JCCA Membership

Welcome to the Japanese Chin Club of America — we welcome new Chin owners as well as those who have been breeding and showing Chin for many years.

We are deeply committed to protecting and improving Japanese Chin in the United States. Our responsibility is to promote the health, temperament, conformation and soundness of the Japanese Chin. Our members are dedicated to responsible breeding and ownership of Japanese Chin. We advance and protect the interests of our breed through events like Meet the Breed at dog shows, education, health research and Japanese Chin rescue.

JCCA members benefit from access to our Health Committee and articles about Chin-related health issues, Regional and National Specialty information, Breed Mentors, Breeder Referral, and quarterly issues of Chin Chatter. As a member of JCCA, you have the opportunity to meet people who share a love of Japanese Chin and who have a wealth of experience showing their dogs in conformation and performance events as well as breeding.

As a member of JCCA, we welcome your involvement on our Committees and rely on the help of membership to make our Specialties memorable and fun.

JCCA offers full membership to all persons 18 years of age and older who, at the time of admission to the club, are owners of record of at least one Japanese Chin, or are family members of a Japanese Chin owner. Prospective members should be in good standing with the AKC and should subscribe to the purposes of this Club.

We offer several membership levels:

Regular Individual – Open to persons aged 18 years or older who are citizens or residents of the United States (or its territories and possessions). Regular members shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of the Club including voting and holding office.

Regular Household – Open to two individuals aged 18 years or older who reside in the same household and who are residents of the United States (or its territories and possessions). Each member in a household membership is entitled to vote and hold office.

Non-US Individual – Open to persons 18 years or older who are not residents of the United States (or its territories and possessions). Members who hold foreign memberships shall be entitled to all privileges of the Club except they shall not be permitted to vote or hold office and will not be counted in a quorum.

Non-US Household – Open to two individuals aged 18 years or older who reside in the same household and who reside outside the United States (or its territories and possessions). Members who hold foreign memberships shall be entitled to all privileges of the Club except they shall not be permitted to vote or hold office and will not be counted in a quorum.

Junior – Open to persons over the age of 10 and under the age of 18. Junior members shall not be permitted to vote or hold office and will not be counted in a quorum. Upon reaching the age of 18, a Junior member may apply to convert to Regular membership.

Lifetime Honorary Membership – Bestowed by the Board in recognition of the completion of 20 consecutive years as a JCCA member in good standing. The Lifetime Honorary Member shall be exempt from paying dues but shall be entitled to all rights and privileges of Regular or Non-US membership, depending on their country of residency as noted above.

Each applicant must complete and sign a JCCA Membership Application, and must obtain signatures and letters from two sponsors who are JCCA members in good standing. Completed forms with sponsorship letters should be mailed or emailed to me (information noted below).
